High impact strength and rigidity with low weight
Quadrant’s glass-mat thermoplastic (GMT) composites are lightweight, tough, stiff and durable. GMT composites can be used for panelized applications or compression molded into complex 3D geometries. GMT is a common replacement for plywood, Fiber-Reinforced Plastics (FRP), and metals due to its excellent strength and stiffness at low weight, outstanding impact strength even at low temperatures, and broad tolerance to moisture, outdoor weathering, and common chemicals. This cost-effective material is also recyclable.
Materials Technology
GMT = Glass Mat Thermoplastic Sheet:
Resin Matrix:
Polypropylene (PP), Polyamide (PA), or Thermoplastic Polyester (PBT);
Reinforcement: Long fiber > 50 mm and / or continuous Glass Fiber Mat Technology
Areas of application
Customized for panelized & formed applications in the defense, RV, automotive, materials handling and HVAC&R Industries.The properties of the various GMT types can be found in our data sheets (Status: May 3rd, 2010):
