A history of success in plastics

As a pioneer in plastics, Quadrant Plastic Composites has been subject to a process of ongoing further development.

1952 Symalit AG founded in Switzerland
Production of cable conduits
1978 Composite activities launched
1988 Symalit AG taken over by Shell (Schweiz) AG
1996 Quadrant takes over Symalit AG
Symalit produces cable conduits, fluoroplastics for the semiconductor industry and glass mat reinforced thermoplastics for the car industry at this time
1998 Symalit takes over the GMT business of Elastogran (BASF), Osnabrück, Germany
1999 Symalit takes over the GMT business of Borealis, Linz, Austria
2000 Symalit takes over J.J. Marx GmbH, Lambrecht, Germany
Symalit acquired this natural fibre business in order to extend its range of products.
2001 Business with composites (GMT) becomes independent and forms the Quadrant Plastic Composites Division
Quadrant expands at group level and takes over the Engineering Plastic Products Division of the Dutch company DSM N.V.
2003 Quadrant Plastic Composites launches production of the SymaLITE® light-weight material
2005 Quadrant Plastic Composites added Quadrant Plastic Composites Japan to the Group, a Joint Venture with Nippon Sheet Glass Japan
2007 Quadrant Plastic Composites introduces the MultiQ™ product line
