Applications in the non-automotive sector are not as numerous due to the need to pay back investments for compression molds and presses by achieving large quantities. Applications worthy of mention in this sector are found in the construction sector, in structural components for office furniture and housings and enclosures for industrial machines and domestic applications.
This may change as the result of introducing new materials which can be formed with low forming pressures. Combining lightweight, rigid exterior layers with corresponding core materials using low-pressure processes will allow development of sandwich systems for diverse applications.
